The fastest computer in Poland in the service of artificial intelligence
– NVIDIA DGX Station is currently the only computer in Poland, whichory allows us to perform numerical calculations – Dr. Jacek Ruminski of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Gdansk University of Technology told PAP. And emphasized: it is a roAlso one of the seven computeroin this class in Europe, and its uniqueness is evidenced by the fact that with very high computing capabilities it can be placed in an ordinary room without special air conditioning.
According to the expert, the computer’s greatest asset is its "heart", That is, 4 graphics cards designed for high-speed numerical calculations. – Its speed of calculations is of the order of 500 tera-operations of floating point per second – so it is a huge computing power in a small package – emphasized the expert.
Dr. Ruminski revealed Gdansk University of Technology’s plans for a supercomputer. – At the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, we will use it to determine rotional models within the framework of artificial intelligence – mowiĆ.
At the same time, he pointed out that „will be worked on by 9 roThe company’soin research in order to obtain e.g. emotion models, recognize medical images, assist the driver or recognize gestures in human-computer relations”.
One of the project’soin research, to whichorych need NVIDIA DGX, is to use a recent invention of the Gdansk University of Technology – eyepieceoin multimedia.
With their help, it is possible to transmit to a computer the image seen by the eye of a regular and thermal imaging camera. The computer, based on models built in artificial neural networks, can e.g. recognize a person’s pulse and breathing rate. This, in turn, could have applications in patient health testing.
– In the quite near future, the doctor will be assisted by artificial intelligence in such a wayob that by just looking at the patient it will obtain a range of important information about the patient,” Ruminski stressed.
As he explained: „will be information resulting from current measurements, e.g. Pulse or respiration rate, but not only. The computer, recognizing the face, will obtain ronformation from this patient’s medical history”.
– At the same time, the patient interview will be mohead can be interpreted through voice recognition and integrated with existing medical records, he said.
